China Moves to Formally End Christian Missionary Activity

The autocratic Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is imposing severe restrictions on Christian missionary activity in the country, arguing loyalty to the party usurps all other beliefs and credos.

The regulations, which take effect May 1, prohibit foreigners from preaching, sharing their faith, or establishing religious organizations without official government approval, persecution.org reports.

The move continues a long history of antipathy towards organized religion in the single-party state.

Declassified Documents Reveal The CIA’s Bizarre ‘Psychic’ Search For The Ark Of The Covenant

Although we are becoming accustomed to increasingly bizarre news stories across the world, sometimes there are stories which still surprise us.  The most recent news story to fit into this category relates to recent revelations from declassified documents that America’s preeminent intelligence agency, the CIA, was deeply involved in a psychic quest for the Ark of the Covenant under the operational code name “Sun Streak”.  This is not the first time that intelligence and military branches have employed unorthodox techniques to achieve their desired goals.  Before expanding on the CIA’s operation concerning the Ark of the Covenant, let me present some of the more bizarre military and intelligence projects:

New US Secretary Of Veterans Affairs Takes Action To Remove Censorship Of Chaplain Sermons

In a win for chaplains in Veteran Affairs (VA), VA Secretary Douglas Collins affirmed that a speech code restricting chaplains’ sermons is unlawful. He added that the department had taken action to rescind the code.

Collins announced the VA’s action in a letter responding to First Liberty Institute and the Independence Law Center, which had written a letter on behalf of Rusty Trubey, an Army Reserve chaplain at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. Trubey was punished for preaching a sermon titled “When a Culture Excludes God.” When he finished preaching the message, which included Romans 1:23-32, a police officer employed by the VA approached Trubey and informed him that people had complained about his sermon.

Legacy media tries to debunk Christianity ahead of Easter — but fails spectacularly

Catholic Bishop Robert Barron is bringing attention to the latest legacy media attempt to delegitimize Christianity.

Last month, the New Yorker published an essay titled, “We’re Still Not Done with Jesus,” that traces the contours of scholarly debate about the origins of Christianity. The chief problem with the essay is that it refused to seriously consider the biblical account of Christianity and Christ as historical fact, a record preserved in the New Testament.

China Escalates Persecution of Christians to Unprecedented Levels

China’s repression of Christians has surged to record levels as the regime intensifies its crackdown on evangelical house churches, dissident Catholics, and even foreigners in China, according to reports from local churches, international agencies, and the Chinese government.

Those being severely punished are Protestants who refuse to join the state-controlled Three Self Church or Catholics who remain faithful to the underground Catholic Church instead of joining the Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association (CCPA) church governed by the Vatican-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) concordat.

According to International Christian Concern’s 2024 report, the government investigated, threatened, or detained at least 12,000 Christians for participating in house church activities, with more than 1,000 individuals sentenced or sent to “re-education camps.”

NYT Panics Over Religious Freedoms, ‘Particularly Christian’ Groups

If there’s anything more frightening than a Supreme Court “which has been receptive to claims from religious groups, particularly Christian ones,” the New York Times has yet to find it.

“It has been almost three years since the Supreme Court last heard arguments in a case that turned on one of the religion clauses of the First Amendment,” NYT’s Adam Liptak wrote on Sunday, “a curious lull in what had been a signature project for the court led by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr.: to bolster the place of faith in public life.”
