ROME \u2014 Pro-LGBTQ+ Jesuit Father James Martin said Wednesday that he has known \u201chundreds\u201d of gay priests in his life as a Jesuit, in response to comments by Pope Francis that there is too much \u201cfaggotry\u201d in seminaries.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my 25 years as a priest and almost 40 as a Jesuit, I\u2019ve known hundreds of holy, faithful and celibate gay priests,\u201d Father Martin wrote on X. \u201cThey\u2019ve been my superiors, my teachers, my confessors, my mentors, my spiritual directors and my friends.\u201d<\/p>\n
