India and Egypt, two members of the\u00a0BRICS<\/a>\u00a0economic alliance, are now reportedly in talks to completely abandon the\u00a0U.S. dollar<\/a>\u00a0in international trade settlements between their respective nations.<\/p>\n This comes at a time when the U.S. economy is $33\u00a0trillion\u00a0<\/em>in debt, Moody\u2019s has\u00a0downgraded<\/a>\u00a0its outlook on several U.S. banking giants, and historically high inflation plagues the U.S. economy.<\/p>\n Breaking free from the economic side of things for a minute, foreign policy decisions have\u00a0dire\u00a0<\/em>consequences. It turns out that fueling proxy conflicts all over the planet has created significant pushback against the U.S. federal government.<\/p>\n Kicking Russia out of the SWIFT system, the global protocol standard for moving U.S. dollars, ignited a torrent of uncertainty and dissent in much of the world\u2014it was the proverbial straw that broke the camel\u2019s back.<\/p>\n The dominant attitude of most non-Western countries after seeing what happened to\u00a0Russia<\/a>\u00a0is: are we next?<\/p>\n No one should ever live in fear that their money and their ability to transact has suddenly been shut off by the government, not sovereign nations, and certainly not individuals.<\/p>\n This brings me to my final point: we must\u00a0never<\/em>\u00a0allow the government to issue a central bank digital currency (CBDC<\/a>).
