Micah Louwagie, the transgender pastor of St. Mark\u2019s Lutheran Church in Fargo, North Dakota, has compared the treatment of trans shooter Audrey Hale to the treatment of Jesus in his passion.<\/p>\n
The Jewish leaders were looking for \u201cany excuse \u2014 valid or not \u2014 to crucify Jesus,\u201d Rev. Louagie said in her April 2 sermon, and \u201cthey needed to kill him in order to preserve their good image.\u201d<\/p>\n
After reading the Biblical account of Jesus\u2019 crucifixion, Louwagie, a biological female married to a woman, drew an analogy to the mass shooting in Nashville.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are a significant number of people who have deemed that the fact that the Nashville shooter happened to be a trans person \u2014 so it\u2019s been reported \u2014 is just the excuse they need to call for the eradication of trans folks,\u201d she declared.<\/p>\n
Rather than focusing on our \u201cserious gun violence problem\u201d or on the fact that six people are dead, \u201cthey have decided they need to cause more harm,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome folks have tried to focus on eradicating trans people as a solution, because they have been waiting, just waiting for an opportunity such as this,\u201d she stated. \u201cThey\u2019ve been waiting for a reason, any reason to stoke their hatred.\u201d<\/p>\n
