Billy Hallowell<\/a> – Febuary 17, 2022<\/p>\n VOM recently shared a reimagined version of the Bible\u2019s revered story centered on Jesus\u2019 love and corrective compassion for a woman caught in adultery.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Chinese Communist Party (CCP) announced plans to update the Bible to \u2018keep pace with the times.\u2019 The revisions will include adding \u2018core socialist values\u2019 and removing passages that do not reflect communist beliefs,\u201d a VOM Facebook post read. \u201cIn a textbook for high school students released in September 2020, the authors included a passage from John 8, as revised in their new version.\u201d<\/p>\n Before we explore the revised communist version, let\u2019s look at John 8 as it stands in the genuine and authentic Bible.<\/p>\n As the famous forgiveness story goes, the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery before them and challenged Jesus, proclaiming, \u201cTeacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. In the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?\u201d<\/p>\n The Bible notes that these Jewish leaders were \u201cusing this question as a trap\u201d to accuse Jesus. Still, Christ started writing on the ground with his finger (it\u2019s a mystery what he was writing) and then uttered some transformational words (verse 7): \u201cLet any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.\u201d<\/p>\n After the people \u2014 clearly shaken by Jesus\u2019 words \u2014 walked away, Christ and the woman were left standing together, and their exchange went as follows (NIV):<\/p>\n Christ: \u201cWoman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Woman: \u201cNo one, sir.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Christ: \u201cThen neither do I condemn you.
