Poland\u2019s Deputy Prime Minister Jaros\u0142aw Kaczy\u0144ski, leader of the country\u2019s governing ruling Law and Justice party (PiS), has accused Germany of trying to create a \u201cFourth Reich\u201d by pushing for a European Union federal state.<\/p>\n

Mr\u00a0Kaczy\u0144ski made his comments this week during an interview with Polish media, explaining that the term \u201cFourth Reich\u201d was not so much a reference to the Third Reich of National Socialist Germany as to the \u201cFirst Reich\u201d of the Holy Roman Empire.<\/p>\n

The Polish conservative added that if his fellow countrymen were to agree to further federalisation of the European Union \u201cwe would be degraded in various ways\u201d and said that such a change to the EU would amount to a \u201cmodern subjugation\u201d of the Polish people, Kronen Zeitung<\/em> reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The comments come after the new German left-green-liberal coalition government agreed to push for further federalisation of the European Union as part of the \u201ctraffic light coalition\u201d deal that was agreed upon<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Last week, Germany\u2019s Chancellor Olaf Scholz made his first visit to Poland<\/a> to meet with Poland\u2019s Prime Minister\u00a0Mateusz Morawiecki, with the latter noting his opposition to a centralised EU superstate and saying such a move would be \u201cbureaucratic centralism\u201d and adding that \u201cEurope will be strong if it is a Europe of sovereign states.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scholz did, however, express support for Poland\u2019s ongoing migrant crisis engineered by Belarus, with Scholz agreeing that it was a form of \u201chybrid warfare\u201d during his visit.<\/p>\n

\u201cI described to the Chancellor the changed tactics that the [Alexander] Lukashenko regime is now using in this artificially triggered migration crisis, the use of people as living shields, as weapons,\u201d Prime Minister\u00a0Morawiecki said.<\/p>\n
