The United Nations has joined the World Economic Forum (WEF) to announce a global coronavirus news service, declaring the time has come for \u201cnew social norms\u201d that seek out and correct \u201cwrong\u201d information.<\/p>\n

Observing that social media is a mechanism for driving opinion on a host of issues, the two globalist organizations announced<\/a>\u00a0Thursday\u00a0they want to \u201ccombat dangerous misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen COVID-19 emerged, it was clear from the outset this was not just a public health emergency, but a communications crisis as well,\u201d Melissa Fleming, chief of global communications for the United Nations, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying to create this new social norm called \u2018pause \u2013 take care before you share\u2019,\u201d Fleming continued. \u201cWe\u2019re equipping people, through this new social norm, with a bit of \u2018information skepticism\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

The U.N. is also encouraging social media influencers to help spread what it selects as \u201creal news about the pandemic,\u201d recruiting them in their tens of thousands to spread the digital messages the U.N. itself has deemed necessary.\u201cSo far, we\u2019ve recruited 110,000 information volunteers, and we equip these information volunteers with the kind of knowledge about how misinformation spreads and ask them to serve as kind of \u2018digital first-responders\u2019 in those spaces where misinformation travels,\u201d Fleming said.<\/p>\n
