As one of “the weightier matters of the law,” faith is complete confidence in God, and without it we cannot please Him. It is a shield against all fiery darts, i.e., trials and temptations. It gives us power, and is a requirement for forgiveness of our sins. We are commanded to have faith and not to doubt.

Judaism is divided into many sects with different beliefs. It is not unified. Jews today as a whole are not deeply interested in religion. This is not new condition. With human laws, traditions and reasoning, the Jews rejected God, and this is clearly shown in the plain facts of history. During the ministry of Jesus, He had to retrieve the Jews from apostasy and had to re-educate them in the Law which was lost.
