Mr. John Durrad    11-27-2021   (from 11-14-2009)

Some people are no longer with us. Why? How serious is it to fall away? God is not a respecter of persons. God allows us to make mistakes, but we actually can quench the Spirit. We need to instil safeguards to ensure that we won’t fail/fall away.

Five reasons why individuals can fall away:

  1. They are not firmly grounded in the truth
  2. Going after material things (materialism)
  3. Spiritual sluggishness/lethargy
  4. Yielding to Satan’s wiles
  5. Following false teachers

We must strive for God’s righteousness, learning to think and act like Him, to always do right. Our righteousness is as filthy rags, but Christ’s sacrifice and our faith in Him allow us to have God’s righteousness. But we must be close to Him through prayer, bible study, meditation and fasting.
